The worn out hills stared back.
Their sandy tones intensely prevailed above
with a yellow light intently giving them a lustrous surface.

They emanate the feeling of still
Neither hot nor chill
Only calm, not thrill
Mastering this simple skill

Their turns and crevices span far.
Despite this, it feels as if it has not a single scar.
Never forming a towering mound,
Never exuding a sound,
Never hiding something yet to be found.

The smoothed hills did not grow bored,
Through the eyes of the beholder did,
They rested, for it was yet to be explored.

My eyes glimpsed towards a tree,
that standed tall, mighty, and free,
with a gray mist surrounding it for all that you could see.
The crestfallen clouds painted the midday sky
so white that it looks like a naked eye,
telling itself not to cry.

No, it does not bother me.
While for others they would look at the sky and flee,
I will stay back and look at the sky with the lone tree, simply being free.
The tree doesn’t have to worry about the complications of a human
for the tree will simply stand and sway just because it can,
Dancing with the breeze, simply a fan.
The melancholy clouds accentuate this ballad,
Despite resembling sadness, are actually glad
with the tree’s dance reminding them of what they once had.

I looked contently at this,
bringing me wistful bliss,
Glad I took a moment to watch the performance away from the abyss.

One breath, two, it still continues to thrive.
Its quaint melody echoing soft peace.
Three breaths, four, it still continues to strive,
strive for maintaining its delicate form.

Its quaint presence never did seem to cease,
only hugging me with kindness, so warm.
It seems to have everything, every piece,
pieced together, blooming, finally blossoming.

I felt the warm sun above smile,
as it smoothly sailed across the urban isle.
They let out a light gleam as they were free,
Quietly tapping my house with glee.

I stepped out to the forest,
Being encountered by a warm pat on the neck, as if I was a guest,
Around me the quaint leaves then sung as if they were blessed.

My flowing gaze has finally been found
As they made a spontaneous symphony with a whimsical sound,
Around my evergreen forest in which they were bound.

I sat down to take it all in that day,
The warm touch coming from a sun ray,
The crisp leaves swaying, wanting to lay,
All of this, comforting me in its own way.

I sat down to hear the trees silently talk.
Their leaves slowly falling down gracefully like a flock.
The falling greenery soothing my mind, giving me a tranquil mental walk,
The opposite of uncomfortable, a beautiful comfort.

I sat down to listen in silence.
Hear the landscape and its whimsical tales,
Harmonizing as they sway with the wind,
and help me feel myself once again.
